Impact of Attrition on Event Studies of Presidential Approval

Abstract

Do irrelevant events cause voters to change their evaluations of incumbent politicians? I present results summarizing a replication analysis of Busby et al. (2017). Results indicate that attrition in before/after event studies of public opinion results in biased average treatement effect (ATE) estimates.
